Dodge's midsize Dakota pickup ran from 1987 to 2011, sold as the Ram Dakota for its final year. It was the first midsize pickup offered with a V8.

1987–1996

The first Dakota used the 2.2 and 2.5 fours and the 3.9 V6, then the 5.2 V8 from 1991 and Magnum engines from 1992. The 1989 Shelby Dakota had a 5.2 V8.

The second Dakota offered the 2.5 four, the 3.9 V6, the 5.2 and, in the 1998–2003 R/T, the 5.9 V8, with the 4.7 V8 from 2000 and the 3.7 V6 for 2004.
