Volkswagen Type 2 Bus / Vanagon Engines by Year

Volkswagen's Type 2, the Bus, Microbus, Kombi and Westfalia camper, was sold in the US from 1950. The split-window and bay-window Buses used air-cooled flat fours, the larger Type 4 engine from 1972. The Vanagon of 1980–1991 switched to the water-cooled Wasserboxer for 1983. Early ratings are as Volkswagen's US literature printed them.
