Chevrolet Malibu Engines by Year
The Malibu began in 1964 as the top Chevelle and became its own model on the downsized 1978 A-body. Rear-drive Malibus ended after 1983; the name returned on a front-drive sedan for 1997 and ran through 2025. The Chevelle page covers the rest of that line.
